Chadburns' Whistle Control System
A fine solid brass example mounted on a turned pine base. Marked Willett-Bruce Trademark and below Whistle Control System. James Willett-Bruce was a maker of electric whistle control apparatus as used on White Star liners Titanic and Olympic and he was also the Superintendent Engineer of the White Star Line and had the final say on equipment used on the WSL fleet. The switch is manufactured by the famous marine maker Chadburns of Liverpool and features a sprung loaded operating lever which flicks back to the off position when not held down. We assume this is a safety device to prevent the whistle being left on inadvertently! A most attractive and unusual item of marine memorabilia. Diameter is 7" (18 cm)
