Parachute Silk Petticoat

Now for something completely different! We bought this from a lady who discovered it in a box of wartime clothing in her loft. She told us it was made by her mother during WWII utilising silk obtained from an airman's parachute and finished with period net edging around the hem. Definitely home made and a unique reminder from those dark days of "make do and mend". If only it could talk, I'm sure it would have an interesting story to tell.
