Mae West Cotton Skull Cap

Carried in the pocket of the RAF Mae West lifejacket and it improved chances of being rescued if downed over water. This is a rare variant as it carries an extended back flap to offer improved sun protection, so we assume would have been issued to aircrew serving in tropical or desert climates.
